HoloPrint® won the ‘Innovation in Holographic Technology’ category at the International Hologram Manufacturers Association’s (IHMA) Excellence in Holography Awards 2011. The Holography Award recognise outstanding industry achievement and are presented to organisations who have introduced the most innovative or commercially viable hologram product or technique over the year.

Presenting the awards, IHMA chairman Adam Scheer, speaking on behalf of the Board, said: “The awards celebrate the very best in holographic achievement and the many remarkable innovations the industry introduces each year.

At the annual Holo-pack•Holo-print® 2010 conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Reconnaissance International made a review of the industry on the theme Holography: Threats & Opportunities.

“This (Red. HoloPrint®) can genuinely be considered a disruptive technology because it provides a new way of applying holograms to printed material. A strength, but also a threat to producers of conventional surface relief holographic systems and finished product as it requires no additional consumables such as labels or stamping foil“. HoloPrint® makes its debut in Germany

Stensborg have joined forces with The X-label Group and Nilpeter to integrate HoloPrint® in X-label printing presses. It will help us meet the increased demands for new innovative label development and increased flexibility, said X-labels managing director Jan Oberbeck.

The fact that we have total control of the workflow and can print to demand convinced us this was the right investment, says Karl-Friedrich Michel, Director Production & Technologies at X-label.

In Stensborgs R&D we will keep focusing on HoloPrint improvements. Mainly new and optimized print plates (bigger and better) but also improved Tailored Refractive Index Protection (TRIP) materials based on both water and UV.

We also found that our HoloPrint “packet” can have a very positive environmental impact, substituting traditional foiling and adding new “green” printing features.

We have prepared a series of HoloPrint print trials together with Nilpeter where many different material combinations and printing operations will be conducted to met the needs of our clients.
