Stensborg A/S is proud to announce its participation in a new research project funded by the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme (EUDP) aimed at accelerating Europe’s transition to green energy. The project, “SCOPE: Scalable Organic Photovoltaics with Enhanced Encapsulation”, aims to revolutionise organic solar cells through advanced graphene barriers, nanoimprinting, and roll-to-roll manufacturing, creating flexible, durable solar technology that could transform renewable energy.

Backed by substantial EUDP support, this collaborative initiative will push the boundaries of scalable, cost-effective solar energy production.

Stensborg A/S will apply its patented Rolling Nano Imprint Lithography method and deep expertise to develop highly efficient nanoimprinted diffuser foils protected by graphene. These foils are designed to enhance photon diffusion within the OPV layers, improving light absorption and enabling a targeted up to 15% relative increase in energy conversion efficiency—without compromising flexibility or durability.

The foils will be manufactured using a NIL-based roll-to-roll (R2R) imprinting system co-funded and co-developed with our integration partner GM Functionals. The goal is to demonstrate a reliable, scalable production method compatible with high-volume OPV manufacturing.

Following our previous EUDP-supported project Colorfoil, which focused on improving solar cells’ efficiency and aesthetics through advanced polymer foil with structural colors, this new collaboration brings together a robust consortium of leading Danish and European organisations:
